Canopy Sensing in Your Vineyard

July 1 - August 24, 2013

Canopy Sensing in Your Vineyard

As part of the current project, Adapting Canopy Sensing Systems into Juice Grape Production, we are continuing to create maps and gather data from commercial vineyards. This year we will be expanding our data collection to different trellis systems and varieties.

If you are interested in participating please register for this event and we will contact you shortly.  Most sensing will take place twenty to thirty days after bloom up until veraison. Please include your cell phone number with registration.

Our intern will be driving down 1/3 - 1/2 of your vineyard rows in an open John Deere Gator.  We will contact you prior to our arrival to ensure the blocks are safe to enter and the reentry interval has passed since the last application of spray material. Following the gathering of data, the data will be interpreted and emailed to you in a PDF format. Our esteemed Post-doctoral fellow, James Taylor will also be available here at CLEREL to provide more detailed consultation. Calibrating the data with sample pruning weights improves the accuracy of the maps and the ability to diagnose issues. For those interested in taking pruning weights next winter a protocol will be provided.
