Dr. Andrew Landers will present this day-long course on the design and proper use of sprayers and associated equipment. Topics will include sprayer design, selection of nozzles and droplet size for different jobs, sprayer calibration, sprayer airflow characteristics, effective sprayer management, and precision spraying. New requirements under the federal Worker Protection Standards (WPS) went into effect this year that impact all farmers. Chris Wainwright, NY Dept of Environmental Conservation, will give a presentation about the new rules, and Dr. David Carlson with Thompson Health will cover the medical exam and respirator fit testing requirements in the WPS rules. Fit testing and medical evaluations will not be provided at this meeting.
There is no cost for the meeting, but registration is required.

Respirator Fit Test and Training

The Finger Lakes Spring Grape IPM Meeting is back this year! Come hear updates on disease and insect management, proper sprayer operation, the role of weather stations in pest management and more, and then enjoy dinner and social time with fellow growers.
This year's meeting will be held at Vine Country Farms in Prattsburgh NY on May 23, 2017 from 4:30 - 6:00 PM. Dinner will be provided, so registration is required. There is no charge for 2017 FLGP enrollees.

OSHA Forklift Course

The class will take approximately 4 hours to complete and will be conducted using a sit down forklift truck. After completing the class, operators will receive OSHA forklift certification. EnoCert 203: Winery Safety and Sanitation

Winery Safety and Sanitation is intended for all cellar personnel. Safety and sanitation are often overlooked in winemaking courses, but are essential to the production of high quality-and more importantly, LEGAL-wines. In this digital learning course, participants will learn to identify and address safety hazards, the role of OSHA and other regulatory bodies, the principles behind a safe and effective sanitation strategy, and common areas of contamination in a winery setting.
